Femra screen print, wooden frame, 59,4 × 84,1 cm, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, 2024
Documentation David Stjernholm
An enlarged, screen-printed copy of a perfume store menu is displayed alongside the video Common Desire. The work explores how “smell-alike” fragrances convey value and prestige by proxy. It features a systematic map where the names of famous brands are encoded into numbers and letters, circumventing copyright laws by branding the perfumes as inspirations rather than direct copies. The work is presented in a dark wooden frame, and can be interpreted as a map, a score, or a poem.
