The Break In performance, 10 min, The Media School × Bar X at Art Hub, Copenhagen, 2024
Starring Andita Shabanaj and Ani Liv Kampe
Written and directed by Tringa Gashi
The Break In is presented as a reenactment of a burglary, but it is rather a fictional scenario blending scores and storytelling in a dramatic monologue.
It delves into themes of obsession, erotic relationships, and stalking, depicting a young woman breaking into her lover’s house. One performer, serving as the narrator, sits on stage facing the audience, reading the score and story aloud. Meanwhile, the young woman stands outside, knocking on the window, her movements synchronized to the narration. She then breaks into the house (the exhibition space), and the story unfolds. The score explores themes of jealousy and power structures, blurring the lines between the inside and outside.
